Frequently Asked Questions
Allow a full wax pool to form on your candle during the initial burn. This is important because allowing the wax pool to reach the edges of the container ensures that the candle burns evenly across its entire surface. This helps prevent “tunnelling” where wax remains stuck to the sides of the container and doesn’t melt down evenly. This can lead to insufficient oxygen preventing the wick from burning.
We use soy wax in our candles. Soy wax is a natural vegetable wax derived from soybean oil. It is made by hydrogenating soybean oil, a process that converts the oil into a solid form at room temperature. Soy wax is made from a renewable resource, soybeans, making it environmentally friendly. It is also biodegradable, which means it breaks down naturally without harming the environment. Soy burns cleaner which makes it a healthier option for indoor use. Soy wax has a good scent throw, meaning it can carry fragrance oils effectively, resulting in an amazing aroma when the candle is burning.
We use rosewood as our wood wicks. Each wick Is held in place by a stainless steel sustainer and a sticky pad. To look after the wood wick, you must trim it back and remove any dead wood before relighting. This helps the longevity of your candle, and encourages the crackling sound. Have a look at a video we made about this.
