CANDLE SAFETY GUIDANCE

Candles are a wonderful addition to any home, providing ambiance and fragrance. However, it’s essential to use them safely to prevent accidents and fires. Please follow these guidelines:

Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended:

Always stay in the room where candles are burning.

Extinguish all candles before leaving the room or going to sleep.

Keep Candles Away from Flammable Objects:

Place candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces.

Keep them at least 30cm away from anything that can catch fire, such as curtains, decorations, paper, and furniture.

Trim Candlewicks and Use Candle Holders:

Trim candlewicks to 5mm before each use to prevent excessive flame and soot.

Use candle holders that are sturdy and won’t tip over easily.

Use Candles in Well-Ventilated Areas:

Ensure proper ventilation when burning candles, especially in smaller rooms.

Avoid placing candles in drafty areas or near air vents.

Keep Candles Out of Reach of Children and Pets:

Place candles where they cannot be knocked over or reached by children or pets.

Never leave a child or pet unattended in a room with a burning candle.

Avoid Moving Burning Candles:

Extinguish candles and allow them to cool before moving them.

Liquid wax can be hot and may cause burns or spills if handled improperly.

Use Candle Accessories Safely:

Use candle snuffers to extinguish candles rather than blowing them out, which can cause hot wax to splatter.

Never use water to extinguish candles, as this can cause splashing and potentially spread the fire.

Be Mindful of Candle Size and Burning Time:

Use candles appropriate for their intended use and burn them for recommended periods.

Large or multi-wick candles may require different safety considerations than single-wick candles.

Monitor Candles During Use:

Check candles periodically for any signs of smoke or excessive flickering.

Extinguish candles if they begin to flicker excessively, produce smoke, or if the flame becomes too high.

Dispose of Candles Properly:

Allow wax to cool and solidify before disposing of candle remnants.

Dispose of used candles and packaging materials according to local waste disposal regulations.

In Case of Emergency:

Keep a fire extinguisher, baking soda, or fire blanket nearby to quickly extinguish small fires.

In the event of a larger fire or uncontrollable flames, evacuate immediately and call emergency services.

Additional Tips:

Educate all household members on candle safety practices and emergency procedures.

By following these candle safety guidelines, you can relax and enjoy the ambiance and fragrance of your Boardwalk Candle responsibly and safely.
